For episode 53, I interviewed Rachel Irons who is a cofounder and CEO of Nude Foods Market which is on a mission to build a new food system based on circular economies, regenerative farming practices, and reusable jars.   I met her at the Boulder store early on a Sunday morning and we discussed what it takes to support local businesses and provide ethically sourced foods that don’t exploit human labor, destroy the environment, or give money to large food systems run by multinational conglomerates.   In preparation for this episode I watched several videos on the Nude Foods YouTube channel and read a book that Rachel recommended called The Secret Life of Groceries by Benjamin Lorr.  This book filled me with dread and despair when I contemplate how our food systems are profiting from unfair labor markets, destroying the environment, and creating unfathomable animal suffering.  I’m so thankful to have a store like Nude Foods where they are working so hard to address these issues.  I hope you will join me in shopping there!
